Saturday Is the New Tuesday
Thunder Belly usually turns up on a Tuesday. This week it moved to Saturday, woke me at 6am, and stuck around into Monday with the eggy burps back for an encore.
Thunder Belly usually has the decency to wait for Tuesday. This week it turned up on Saturday instead, six in the morning, before I was even out of bed.
I assumed it was a one-off. It wasn’t. Sunday, same thing, same time, woke me again. Two days of rumbling, wind, and an uncomfortable stomach, no diarrhoea involved. And the eggy burps were back, a return visit rather than anything new — I’d had those before, just not for a while. And it didn’t stop there. Monday, and it’s still hanging around.
Four or five months on 2.5 mg, and I thought I’d learned the pattern. Apparently the pattern doesn’t care that I’d learned it.
It’s not unmanageable, just frustrating. Nothing like the 5 mg disaster. Just my digestive system deciding to misbehave early and overstay its welcome, well past the weekend and into the working week.
Oddly, there’s a bit of me that’s almost pleased about it. It’s a reminder that 2.5 mg is still doing something down there, not just coasting along doing nothing. Not that I needed convincing — the scales have already told me that story, 14 st 2 lb and still moving. But it’s one more data point that the dose hasn’t gone quiet on me.
